Among them, the law of the city of refuge is so mysterious and profound. In the past in Israel, there was a town for people who accidently killed a person to flee to. It was called the city of refuge. There were 6 cities of refuge throughout Israel. Among those who fled to a city of refuge, if it was revealed that they committed murder they were killed. Once a person entered the city of refuge, they could not be released by bail or any other means. There was only one way to be released from the city of refuge and return to their hometown; only when the high priest, who was anointed with the holy oil, died. If someone entered the city of refuge today and the high priest died the next day, then, they could be released right away. On the other hand, if the high priest was younger than the accused, they could not leave the city of refuge for the rest of their life. The secret hidden in the city of refuge In some way the city of refuge system seems to be unreasonable. What is this trying to tell us? The law is only a shadow of the things that are coming (Heb. 10:1). The process of sinners confined in the city of refuge returning home contains the secret of returning to the kingdom of heaven. The Bible tells us that all humankind are sinners and our home town is the heavenly kingdom (Romans 3:10, Hebrews 11:13~16). In other words, the earth is a spiritual city of refuge where sinners who committed sin in heaven have gathered. Just like the only way to be freed from the city of refuge in the Old Testament was the death of the high priest, we can only be saved through the sacrifice of Jesus, the high priest who was anointed with the holy oil. The Bible tells us that all humankind are sinners and our home is heaven (Romans 3:10, Hebrews 11:13~16). In other words, the earth is a spiritual city of refuge where heavenly sinners have gathered. Just like the only way to be freed from the city of refuge in the Old Testament was the death of the high priest, we can only be saved through the sacrifice of Jesus, the high priest who was anointed with the holy oil. Just as silver or gold could not free people from the city of refuge, our salvation does not come from materials. Only when we are clothed with the holy sacrifice of Jesus, can we receive the grace to look toward the kingdom of heaven. How can we participate in the sacrifice of Jesus? Simply by saying you believe with your mouth is of no use. We must keep the Passover Feast, which Jesus established through His flesh and blood, in order to correctly participate in the sacrifice of Jesus. Ephesians 1:7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace. God, who has no sin, came to the earth Himself for humankind who did not know where they came from or where they are going. God sacrificed Himself to the point of death to establish the holy feast, Passover. If all humankind realizes the value of the Passover, all humankind can return to heaven. There are still so many people who do not know about the hometown of our souls and have not heard about the Passover. Through this video sermon we hope that many people will realize that they are able to see the kingdom of heaven at the expense of God’s noble sacrifice and come to the path of salvation by realizing the secrets hidden in the city of refuge.
