God’s Blessing & the Sabbath

If you are a child of God, you must know when the day to meet God is. It’s because God seeks those who worship on the basis of the truth and gives them salvation.

Gen 2:1-3 Thus the heavens and the earth were completed in all their vast array … God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.

God finished creating the heavens and earth in six days and rested on the seventh day. And He codified the commandment to keep that day and to commemorate it in the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:8).

Here, the thing we must focus on is that we should not only remember the seventh day, but we must keep it holy. According to these words, the World Mission Society Church of God worships on the Sabbath day, the seventh day. On the other hand, most churches do not worship on the Sabbath day but keep the Sunday worship service. Even those who do not attend church also regard keeping Sunday worship as a given. However, Sunday worship is not a worship service to God. That’s because Sunday is not the seventh day God rested on.

When is the seventh day? It is easy to understand when you know the day Jesus resurrected. The day Jesus resurrected is Sunday. This is evident in the fact that all churches keep Resurrection Day on Sunday. Then, what does the Bible call the Sunday when Jesus resurrected?

Mark 16:9 When Jesus rose early on the first day of the week.

Mark 16:1-2 When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices so that they might go to anoint Jesus’ body. Very early on the first day of the week, just after sunrise, they were on their way to the tomb…”

NLT, Mark 16:1-2 Saturday evening, when the Sabbath ended, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome went out and purchased burial spices so they could anoint Jesus’ body. Very early on Sunday morning, just at sunrise, they went to the tomb.

Added verses because in English the expression ‘When the Sabbath was over’ is not included in verse 9 so verse 1 is added.

TEV, Mark 16:9 After Jesus rose from death early on Sunday.

The day after the Sabbath day is Sunday. So, we can know that Saturday which is the day before Sunday is the Sabbath day. In other words, the seventh day Sabbath that God legislated and commanded us to keep is Saturday. Sunday is just the first day of the week, not the holy day that God commanded. If you want to be saved, you must keep worship on the seventh day that God Himself established.

God said the Sabbath day is ‘My day’, and set an example by keeping it Himself (Matthew 12:8, Luke 4:16-20). Therefore, whether or not someone is a child of God is determined right away by whether they keep the Sabbath day or not. To those who consider God’s words as nothing, Saturday and Sunday are just a day difference but to those who consider God’s words more precious than gold, even violating one hour of the Sabbath day not to speak of one day is unimaginable.
